It’s The Godfathers year. In addition to the original film being re-released in theaters later this month to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the trilogy will also be released on 4K Ultra HD on March 22nd. There will not be one either, but thaw projects depicting the making of the released classic film, the first of which will be The offer, a ten-part limited series for Paramount +. The streaming service has released a new trailer for The offer which you can check out above.
The offer is centered around Godfather producer Al Ruddy and will be based on “Ruddy’s”never before revealed experiences”During the production of the film. Miles Teller stars as Al Ruddy (who took over the role from Armie Hammer), with the series also starring Matthew Goode as producer Robert Evans, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt and Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola. The series is written and executive produced by Michael Tolkin (Escape at Dannemora), where the real Al Ruddy also acts as executive producer alongside Nikki Toscano (Hunters) and Leslie Greif (Hatfields and McCoys). What were you thinking The offer trailer?
As I mentioned earlier, The offer is not the only project that revolves around the production of the iconic film in the works. Barry Levinson will also be directing Francis and the godfatherwho will portray “chaotic, Shakespearean drama behind the scenes”, Which took place during production. Francis and the godfather will play Oscar Isaac as Francis Ford Coppola, Jake Gyllenhaal as Robert Evans, Elisabeth Moss as Eleanor Coppola and Elle Fanning as Ali MacGraw. Can we handle dueling Godfather projects or will the world implode over itself. I suppose time will tell.
