Dr. Drew channels Trump: The press is the people’s enemy

Comedian Ryan Long utilizes comic themes that few of his peers will touch on.

Think Identity Politics, the wake revolution and clickbait media.

The latest example? Long plays a fearsome reporter in “man on the street” mode.

Why is this fun?

Because media, especially during the pandemic, are spreading fears of increasing viewership. It’s a variation of the local TV news story, “Coming up next time … what’s in your fridge could kill you. “

Consumers know this all too well, especially during the extended pandemic. Long wise played on that consciousness.

Dr. Drew Pinsky also noted this disturbing trend, except that he is not entertained.

The doctor, co-host of “The Adam and Dr. Drew Show,” told listeners about a fresh media trend now that COVID-19 deaths may be declining.

The mainstream press, he argued, is suddenly pushing the death toll from other, more conventional areas of life – think, for example, old age.

“That’s their concern now. So we have to get started, get started,” said Dr. Pinsky, linking the shift to major mistrust issues linked to the pandemic.

Regular “Adam and Dr. Drew” listeners know the hosts speak out against both government and media inaccuracies associated with the pandemic. Even Dr. Pinsky, a much cooler voice than Carolla, can not help but criticize how both bodies have failed the Americans.

“Isn’t the press really the problem? As you say, the leaders made mistakes, made bad decisions… but is not the enemy of the people the press? Isn’t that the problem that makes mass formation psychosis? ”

The latter phrase came into vogue after Dr. Robert Malone, co-creator of the mRNA vaccine platform, used the term for “The Joe Rogan Experience.” The medical expert described how the press, the government and Big Tech teamed up to sell fake stories related to the pandemic.

  • The pandemic certainly did not start in Wuhan Lab
  • Children are at risk for COVID-19 just like adults
  • Dust masks are an effective, yes essential barrier against the virus

Twitter subsequently banned Dr. Malone, which forced him to move to GETTR. YouTube tore in the same way Dr. Malone’s recent interview with Rogan, heard by the podcaster’s massive Spotify audience.

Of course, President Donald Trump famously uttered the phrase, “The press is the enemy of the people,” regarding the Fake News wave that peaked during his presidency. It resonated with people across the political spectrum, witnessing recent polls showing a massive distrust of mainstream news.

Carolla quickly weighed in on Dr. Pinsky’s comments and added a remarkable twist.

“It’s the press, but you still have to blame the leaders because the leaders want to be portrayed by the press in a certain way,” Carolla said.

“The Fourth Estate, they are here to help us,” said Dr. Pinsky in a mocking tone about the decade-old nickname for journalism. “The Fourth Estate needs a revolution … and it could be Joe Rogan. He could end up as the leader of the fourth state,” he added with a laugh.

Carolla took up this theme and acknowledged how journalists take a contradictory tone towards Republican politicians.

“If you are [Republican Gov.] “Ron DeSantis from Florida, you’re already on the wrong side of all the news media, so you’re going to operate with impunity because you’ve already encountered them,” Carolla said, noting the 2020 “60 Minutes” hit on the Florida governor.

“Fox [News] will leave him alone, and so the other 19 [news outlets], and they go after him, ”he said. It gives, oddly enough, the opportunity to govern in a way that Democrats can not fully emulate, he suggested.

“He has to say, ‘Well, I can do whatever politics I want because I’ve already encountered these people. It does not matter”. Governor Newsom [of California] do not want to run on edge with these people, and no one who is in charge of a blue state does. They say, ‘I have all these guys on my side. I will not encounter those I have choices on the way. ‘ They then set their policies that would not run counter to the Los Angeles Times, which are the wrong policies, but “I need the Los Angeles Times.”

Dr. Pinsky reminded listeners that Governor Newsom initially refused to give President Donald Trump the vaccine, assembling his own advisory panel that suggested the now highly acclaimed treatments could be problematic. That action alone would cause him to be branded an anti-vaxxer and likely removed from social media.

“What happened to that panel?” he asked Newsom’s panel.

“What happened to Kamala Harris who said she would not take Trump’s vaccine?” Carolla added that some mainstream media memory hole as the current vice president continues to push vaccine use.

The duo also discussed CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage, with an overtly intoxicated co-host, Andy Cohen, further tarnishing the network’s name.

“I’m not sure CNN did itself any favors on New Year’s Eve,” said Dr. Pinsky.

“I think the United States caught CNN,” Carolla said of the network’s ratings free fall.

Pinsky noticed a larger, more disturbing trend. The public no longer trusts that news media are fair and honest.

“It used to be that the news was reporting something and you said ‘OK’ and you ate it. Go now, ‘okay, we’ll see.’ Always. Everything. ‘

Carolla brought up the deluge of fake news related to the Kyle Rittenhouse case as an excellent example of modern media corruption.

“They lied. We caught it, and a certain percentage of people understand it,” Carolla said.
