Man caught 20 minutes after allegedly escaping from Hobart’s Risdon prison

A man who allegedly escaped from Hobart’s Risdon prison has been recaptured by police within 20 minutes after the vehicle he was driving had the wheels spit.

Police said the 35-year-old escaped custody around 9:05 a.m. Thursday.

He was found about 20 minutes later near the Jordan River Bridge at Gagebrook, about 15 miles away.

No one was injured.

Police have asked anyone with information or dash cam footage of a white Ford Ranger out, registration E 10 CV, to come forward.
