CES is the world’s largest technology event. Although we do not see too many smartphones at CES, there are still a handful of launches. With that in mind, we’ve put together the best phones for the CES 2022, and spoiler: there was a clear winner when it comes to specs and value.

Without further ado, here are the best phones at CES 2022.

Best smartphone at CES 2022: Samsung Galaxy S21 FE

As expected, the Galaxy S21 FE – which stands for “Fan Edition” – is much like the vanilla Galaxy S21. It borrows the design aesthetics and most of the specifications, including the Snapdragon 888 processor. However, it shaves a few of those specs down to keep the price down. For example, the base model has only 6 GB of RAM, the camera array is a bit weaker, and the fingerprint sensor is optical instead of ultrasound.

However, the phone has a few things over even the Galaxy S21. It has a larger battery (4,500 mAh), a larger screen and comes with Android 12 out of the box. The latter means that it will receive an extra Android version throughout its lifetime compared to the original Galaxy S21 series. You read that right: Galaxy S21 FE gets a newer version of Android than even Galaxy S21 Ultra.

You will be able to buy the best phone at CES 2022 from January 11, 2022 for $ 699.

Samsung’s 2021 flagship finally gets a “fan edition”

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is very similar to the vanilla Galaxy S21. But it pairs things up a bit to cut $ 100 from MSRP.

OnePlus 10 Pro

So far, here’s what we know about 10 Pro. We know it has a unique new rear camera module, as seen in the image above. We know it has Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 under the hood. It also comes with a slightly faster wired charging at 80W instead of 65W.

Most of the other features related to the phone are unknown or simply vaguely understood. We do not know too much about the camera system yet, and we do not know when it will be launched or how much it will cost. Given the drop-feed approach to revelations so far, we cross our fingers that OnePlus will reveal more about the phone over the next few days.

TCL 30V

TCL 30V

TCL launched two budget smartphones at CES 2022. The TCL 30V is the best of the pair, with the TCL 30XE being so understated that it should appeal only to the most budget-constrained buyers.

The rest of the specifications of the TCL V30 are somewhat typical of a phone in this class: 4 GB RAM, 128 GB internal storage, a triple camera system with an ultra-wide-angle and macro lens, etc. However, the real feature of the phone is that it offers both 5G standards without breaking the bank.

TCL 30V is a Verizon exclusive here in the United States. Unfortunately, TCL did not announce a release date or price for the phone. Judging by its specifications, however, we assume that it will be quite cheap.

Nokia G400

Nokia 2760 Flip, Nokia C100, Nokia C200, Nokia G100 and Nokia G400.

As with the TCL 30V, the Nokia G400 exists primarily as an inexpensive way to access 5G networks. For just $ 239, budget-conscious shoppers need not be left out of the 5G experience.

Unlike the TCL 30V, however, the Nokia G400 does not support mmWave connections (it is only below 6GHz). Instead, HMD Global threw in a few great specs, such as a huge 5,000 mAh battery and a 6.6-inch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Required reading: What does 60Hz, 90Hz or 120Hz mean?

For $ 239, it’s definitely a bargain to get such a large battery, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 5G connections. This could end up being one of the best budget-oriented entities in 2022, provided HMD can keep its promises.

Although we know how much it will cost, HMD Global has not let us know when we can buy the Nokia G400. It confirmed that it will be available on “all four wireless providers”, which we assume means Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and an unknown fourth operator.
