Heavy thunderstorms are rolling through southern Ontario

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm for the Waterloo Region and Wellington County, while a number of other communities were exposed to a tornado warning.

Heavy rain, lightning and thunder were caught in Waterloo. The weather bureau said the gusts reached up to 48 km / h around noon. 23 There were reports of heavy rainfall between Kitchener and Stratford.

Weather forecast was issued late Tuesday night for Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo Region, Guelph, Erin, Mount Forest, Arthur and Northern Wellington County.

A tornado warning was previously valid for Mount Forest, Arthur and Northern Wellington County. Rotational wind footage was captured in the area.

West Gray Police released a video around 9pm of volunteer firefighters clearing a fallen tree from a local roadway. An official in the video said crews were returning from a fire that was triggered after a home got stuck by lightning.

The weather bureau said a series of severe thunderstorms were moving east over the region Tuesday night.
