MacOS Monterey users turn to social media for help with an apparent bug that causes the MacBook running macOS Monterey 12.2 to lose battery power overnight. Based on several Twitter reports, users find that their MacBooks wake up from sleep countless times at night and cause the battery to drain. The issue appears to be affecting both Intel and M1 Macs.
Apple Support responded to Andreas Schilling’s tweet above with a link to a support document with instructions on how to optimize the MacBook battery, check battery status, and diagnose battery issues, but the issue appears to be beyond the reach of simple adjustments. Users have found that disabling Bluetooth allows the Mac to stay in sleep mode and conserve battery life. This can be a halt until Apple fixes an issue.
The first beta of macOS Monterey 12.3 was released to the public last week, but the release notes do not mention this issue. Apple has not yet publicly acknowledged the problem.
