Parolee was taken prisoner for cutting boy during bodega robbery in NYC

A man on parole was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly cutting an 11-year-old boy during a robbery at a bodega in Manhattan last week, police said.

Hector Diaz, 57, allegedly shoplifting a number of items then cut the victim’s right hand after he was confronted by a worker at the bodega on Avenue D in Alphabet City just after 12:15 last Wednesday, sources said.

The boy, who is the clerk’s nephew, was taken to Bellevue Hospital for minor injuries, police said.

Diaz was picked up by members of the NYPD’s Warrant Squad at his home in Manhattan. He was charged with robbery with a dangerous instrument.

Sources said Diaz has a lengthy criminal record with 24 previous arrests dating back to 1987.

He is on probation until December 2022 for burglary, sources say.
