olice has launched a homicide investigation after a man’s body was found in south London after he was reported missing from the Reading area.
Thames Valley police launched an investigation into missing persons on August 24. Its major crime started a homicide investigation when the body was found in Erith on Wednesday.
His relatives have been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers.
The force does not offer “more information about the person’s identity” due to the “ongoing nature of the investigation”.
Senior Inspector-Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Blaik said: “We have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of a person in London.
“My thoughts remain with the man’s family during this extremely difficult time.
“The investigation is at an early stage and we are conducting thorough investigations to determine what has happened.
“There is currently a stage guard in place at Hadrian Walk in Reading, and then you can see an increased police presence in the local area as our inquiries continue.
