Hirshhorn’s fantastic new art installation uses the building as its canvas

The Smithsonian Museum of Modern Art, Hirshhorn is undergoing renovations, and its latest art installation, from Swiss artist Nicolas Party in New York, covers the entire exterior of the building. With the title Draw the curtain, the piece is a pastel painting that has been transferred to scrim, a strong fabric and then draped over the scaffolding of the cylindrical museum. The museum – which remains open – will hold the installation up until next spring. Our photographer Evy Mages checked it out last night.
