Five Guys’ first Australian store opens in Sydney next week

35 years after it opened its first store in Virginia, USA, cult favorite burger Five Guys is finally debuting in Australia next week. It is set to open on Mulgoa Road in Penrith on September 20 and offers pick-up only until the restrictions on Covid-19 ease.

The new burger joint serves a short menu of burgers and cheeseburgers, with the option to add bacon to both and free toppings so you can customize your burger – think mayo, salad, grilled onions, HP sauce, jalapenos and relish. (There are also mini-burgers for the kids.) It will also offer hot dogs, sandwiches (including grilled cheese, BLTs and veggiesangas), fries and milkshakes with as many mix-ins as you want (options include peanut butter, chocolate, salted caramel and Oreos).

Launched in 1986, Five Guys and its fresh approach to ingredients and homemade pies and fries have seen it expand in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The group does not use freezers or microwaves; patties are handmade, local bakeries bake buns and fries handcrafted internally daily and cooked in peanut oil.

In Australia, the diner has been launched by Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group, which also operates restaurants such as The Meat & Wine Co, 6 Head, Hunter & Barrel and Ribs & Burgers.

Five Guys opens Sept. 20 at 123 Mulgoa Road, Penrith.
