There’s a free dog show going on in downtown Vancouver next week

If this is your definition of a good time to sip cocktails and watch adorable dogs, then we know where you want to be next week.

That The Oakridge Park Charity Dog Competition takes place just outside the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel on the site. It happens on Thursday, September 23, and it’s a free outdoor event, so you do not need a ticket or reservation.

If your best friend is your dog, then you will definitely want them with you. They need to have a portrait studio where you can have your photo taken with your dog. Plus, there will be special treats, but probably most dog treats and gifts.

But the event is not just to show off some of the city’s cutest kids.

Oakridge Park is making a donation in the name of the winner of each dog show category to Furever Freed Dog Rescue.

They are also the same organization that helped Lili Reinhart, the actress who plays Betty Cooper from Riverdale, find her dog named Milo.

Furever Freed helps rescue abandoned, abused or neglected dogs from around the world. They have a mission to connect dogs with “devoted, responsible and loving people so they can live happily ever after in their new home.”

The dog show is just one event happening as part of the Oakridge Park Mid-Autumn Festival from September 16-26. There is also a fashion show, a piano competition and a performance by VSO.

While you’re there, sip on unique mid-autumn party-inspired cocktails at the lobby bar (though you’re not allowed to bring dogs inside) made with rare O-five teas.

You can also stick to dinner. Giovane Bacaro opened just earlier in the year if you haven’t checked it out yet and happen to love Italian food.

When: Thursday, September 23rd
Tickets: Free to join
