Reba McEntire got the cat-stick-in-a-tree treatment from a fire department in Oklahoma — except that the trunk she had gone up was actually a pretty old building with a hollowed-out staircase.
The country singer was one of 7 people rescued Tuesday by authorities in Atoka, OK. Reba and a friend were touring a historic site – the building is at least 100 years old – when it partially crumbled inside.
Emergency Management Director Travis Mullins tells us … the building was in the middle of a renovation when this happened – the dilapidated staircase was already scheduled to be replaced. No word on why anyone was actually let in if that was the case.
Anyway, Reba and co. was thankfully right on the second floor when the stairs collapsed … left them stuck up there and demanded an old-fashioned rescue of ladders. Video of the incident shows firefighters safely leading her and others down through the window.
Reba and co. was mostly okay … a person was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. After that fact, officials said that the stairs on the 2nd floor not only fell down, but those leading to the 3rd story did too … caught others higher up at the time.
Of course, it could have been a lot worse than it turned out … especially for Reba. In fact, she is a survivor.
