Manchester United are keeping a close eye on RB Leipzig’s Spanish striker midfielder Dani Olmo.
That is according to a report by Marca, as quoted by Express, claiming that United – who suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Young Boys in their Champions League opener on Tuesday night – are ‘ready to make an effort’ for to secure his signature next year.
Olmo, 23, joined Leipzig from Croatian jersey Dinamo Zagreb back in January 2020 – and put a paper on a four-year deal with the Bundesliga club – and has gone from strength to strength since arriving in Germany.
He impressed for Spain at Euro 2020 and has scored 12 goals in 62 matches since joining Leipzig, as well as registering 13 assists.
Despite being so influential last season, Olmo has only played once so far this season, raising questions about his future and where it may lie. Barcelona are said to be interested during the summer transfer window, but failed to get a deal across the line.
United are reportedly keeping an eye on him, but given that they have Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard in the running for the No. 10 role, it would be a surprise if they would pursue his signature.
Elsewhere, it has been reported by Mundo Deportivo that United inquired about Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati while he was in discussions with super agent Jorge Mendes about bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford last month.
United are said to have been very interested in the youngster and were keen to lure him to the Premier League. Fati is now in the final year of his contract at the Nou Camp and the interest in his services is great.
It is reported that Fati was ‘attracted’ to the idea, but Barcelona had no plans to sell him under any circumstances.
Manchester City are also reported to have expressed interest in Fati.
