Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart is considering signing former Gold Coast tool Tyrone Peachey. The Titans have decided to offer the very versatile 30-year-old a contract for next season, but he could find his way to Canberra. Stuart wants to strengthen his team as he looks set to return the green machine to the NRL top eight after missing the final this year. Peachey played 179 NRL matches for Cronulla, Penrith and Titans, after spending the last three seasons on the Gold Coast. He has made a name for himself as the almost perfect No. 14 and filled the role of NSW in the State of Origin in 2018. Peachey played everywhere from five eighths, to lock, second row, center, hooker and fullback across his nine seasons in the NRL . Stuart said Peachey did not come in as a half-opportunity, with the Raiders on the market to replace George Williams, who returned to England halfway through the season due to homecoming. They have been associated with any off-playmaker, as well as those who are not, with Sydney Roosters’ Lachlan Lam the latest. It is believed that Stuart is not interested in Lam playing five-eighths for the Roosters in their semi-final against Manly at Mackay on Friday night. “Yes, Tyrone is a player that we have discussed,” Stuart told The Canberra Times. “Not as a half, but as a new purchase. He is one of a number of names we are looking at at the moment.” I’m making sure our team is healthy again in 2022. “MORE RAIDERS NEWS Peachey was one of six players faring the Titans on Tuesday along with half Ash Taylor.
